In February 2023, I joined the Scholars Strategy Network as the Director of Development.

Previously, I earned my Ph.D. in History from Carnegie Mellon University in 2017, and spent five years working as an independent scholar, entrepreneur, and activist. I worked with a dynamic group of academic, non-profit, and consulting clients, and learned from them how to approach strategic planning, communicate impact to funders, and build trusting, reciprocal relationships with stakeholders. I developed a particular niche working on digital public history projects.

I also served as co-editor of The Metropole, the blog of the Urban History Association for six years. In that time, I oversaw the publication of over 400 articles and essays, authored 20 posts, coordinated the weekly Member of the Week series for three years, and initiated an annual blogging contest for graduate students.

From 2018-2024 I co-owned and operated DEVONthink for Historians with my business partner, Ada Barlatt. DEVONthink for Historians offered courses that taught nearly 500 humanities and social science researchers how to manage qualitative data using DEVONthink database software. As of December 2025, our YouTube channel offering additional free content had almost 1000 subscribers (2000+ hours total watch time since December 2018).

Regardless of role, I take great pride in learning new, complex information quickly so that I can describe it to non-experts. And nothing brings me more joy than making connections between seemingly disparate topics.

When I am not buried in books, I can most often be found hanging out with my best decision ever, Kevin, and our son.

Be regular and orderly in your life like a bourgeois, so that you may be violent and original in your work.
